How to talk to children about terrorism
Reassuring parents in the face of the most difficult questions.
In the wake of the Paris terrorist attacks, Childline began to receive an unprecedented number of calls from children worried about terrorism. They asked us to help parents allay their children’s fears.
Together with NSPCC’s Childline, The Times asked us to create a video that could teach parents the right things to say when their children saw terrorism on the news, or heard it talked about in the playground, and began to ask the awkward questions: Why is it happening? Who’s doing it? Will it happen here?
